Vex Qualifiers
Held at the Batavia High School


Fox Valley Robotics hosts one or more Illinois VEX Qualifiers. Several teams at each will qualify for the Illinois State Competition and perhaps from there to April's International Vex Competition.
 
In the 2019 - 2020 season, there will be five Vex Qualifiers at the Batavia High School.

In the event that a team can not attend due to unforeseen circumstances the day of the event, please call the number provided in the registration packet emailed in the week prior to the event.

Facility Notes

The Batavia High School is at 1201 Main St, Batavia, IL 60510. Park in the south lot and enter through the main doors.

  • No roller or roller-blade shoes allowed.
  • No open-toed shoes allowed in the pit area or competition floor.
  • Internet access is NOT available.
  • No smoking or alcohol is allowed in the facility.
  • Wireless hotspots are NOT allowed in any part of the facility. Any detected hotspots will be shutdown.

Team Check-in
After the doors open at 7:15, the coach of the team checks-in at the registration table located just inside the entrance doors. The coach can turn in consent forms and pick up a pizza and drink order form and receive last minute updates.
 
Completed pizza order forms are taken to Concessions for payment.
 
The team may sign up for VEXtext which will allow the team to receive text messages prior to the start of their assigned match.

Judging Interviews
Judging Interviews
Judging Interviews are scheduled when the team checks-in at the registration desk.
 
Each team is required to have a judging interview in which they bring their robot and engineering notebook to the time slot.

Inspection
Inspection
Teams are encouraged to go through inspection as soon as they are ready. Teams must go through:
  • Hardware inspection and robot sizing
  • Software inspection
  • Field connectivity and verification
Assume the total inspection process per team takes approximately 30 minutes including wait time. Please plan accordingly.
 
Hardware and software inspection checklists are located in the back of the game manual.
 
General reminders:
  • Robot must fit into a 18"x18"x18" box. No extra parts may extend out the side or top.
  • No sharp edges or un-filed metal
  • Flat holders are required
  • Team number should be visible from opposite sides of the robot.
  • Wiring should be neat and contained in the area of the robot.
  • Main battery power control button should be easily accessible.
  • Bill of materials (BOM) should be completed. In the event that a robot part is questionable, cite the rules reference or forum reference for validation.

Each team will have part of a cafeteria table for their pit area.
Power is provided at the pit tables.

Concessions is open from 8 am to 4 pm.
 
Lunch items for sale might include:
  • Pizza by the slice
  • Hot Dogs
  • Chips
  • Candy
  • Desserts
Beverages for sale throughout the day might include:
  • Coffee
  • Water bottles
  • Soda
Pre-ordered pizza is available on a per team basis.
